A charity quiz organised by Atwell Martin has raised more than £1200 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Members of Plymouth’s business community were invited to ‘pit their wits’ against each other in teams of four at the event, held at the Loft on Vauxhall Quay.
Quizmaster Andrew Bullivant of Atwell Martin delivered nine rounds of questions to seventeen teams covering subjects such as music, science, general knowledge and Plymouth trivia.
Winners ‘The Drifters’ from Sutton Harbour Holdings narrowly beat a three-man team from Plymouth Argyle into second place.
Partner Sue Dyer of Atwell Martin said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have raised this amount for such a worthwhile cause and we’re so grateful to all those who supported the event, either by entering teams or donating raffle prizes.
“This is the first time we have nominated a chosen charity and we’re really pleased to be supporting the incredible work of Children’s Hospice South West, particularly during their silver anniversary year.”
Raffle prizes were donated by Arena Creative Hair Salon, Atwell Martin, Boringdon Hall, Blue Chip Holidays, Children’s Hospice South West, the Eastern Eye, Elesse Hair and Beauty, Kaya Gallery, Maiya’s, Plymouth Albion RFC, Plymouth Argyle, Plymouth Gin, Rowbury Gallery and Staddon Heights Golf Club.
Atwell Martin has already sponsored the charity’s spring newsletter – distributed to more than 55,000 people – and organised a Christmas jumper day. Further fundraising events are planned throughout the year and a JustGiving page has been set up (justgiving.com/AtwellMartinPlymouth/).
In April, Partnership Secretary Richard Channing is running the Plymouth Half Marathon in aid of CHSW which, alongside Macmillan Cancer Support, is an official event charity.
In July, an Atwell Martin team will tackle the arduous three peaks challenge, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon – in 24 hours.
In September, Atwell Martin will challenge local firms in a rounders tournament.
Offering all aspects of residential estate agency, lettings, land and new homes from its showroom office on Plymouth’s Barbican, Atwell Martin provides a bespoke, personal and friendly service with links to a national buyers’ network through an associated London office.
CHSW operates three hospices in Cornwall, North Devon and North Somerset and provides care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.
